The person you've lost was irreplaceable. One of a kind. Full of quirks and stories and moments that made them them.

Their funeral/celebration of life should reflect that.

I'm Lynette, and I create bespoke funeral and celebration of life ceremonies across Yorkshire that capture the essence of the people we're saying goodbye to. Not generic services where you're left thinking, "That could have been anyone." But deeply personal tributes where everyone in the room nods in recognition, laughs through tears, and leaves feeling like your loved one was truly honored.

Why a Celebrant-Led Funeral?

A celebrant-led funeral gives you freedom to celebrate your loved one exactly as they deserve, whether that's traditional and formal, joyful and colorful, or something entirely unique to them.

You're not restricted by religious texts you don't connect with. You're not limited to twenty minutes in a crematorium with a registrar who never met the person you're saying goodbye to.

Instead, you get a ceremony crafted specifically around the person you loved. Their personality, their passions, their humor, their impact on the world. A service that feels like them.

My skills enable me to provide a safe space, support you to sit with grief, hold space for difficult emotions, and help families express what matters most. I'll be your calm, compassionate guide through this process, listening, supporting, and creating something beautiful from your memories.

The Process

Arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming, especially when you're grieving. I'll make this part as straightforward as possible.

  • LCS-Emblem-Full-Color

    Step 1: Initial Contact

You can book me directly or through your funeral director. We'll have a brief conversation about the type of service you're hoping for.

  • LCS-Emblem-Full-Color

    Step 2: Gathering Their Story

I'll visit you at home (or wherever you prefer) to talk about your loved one. I'll ask questions, listen carefully, and gather the stories, details, and memories that made them unique.

This conversation usually lasts 1-2 hours. Some families find it comforting to reminisce together. Others find it emotional. Both are completely normal, and I'll follow your lead.

    Step 3: Crafting the Ceremony

I'll write the first draft of the ceremony, weaving together the stories you've shared. I'll send it to you to review, and we'll make changes together until it feels exactly right.

    Step 4: The Service

On the day, I'll arrive early to coordinate with your funeral director and make sure everything runs smoothly. Then I'll deliver the ceremony with warmth and respect, honoring your loved one in the way they deserved. I will provide a unique, heartfelt ceremony that will ‘capture the essence’ of your loved one.

Types of Funeral Ceremonies I Create

Every funeral is different, because every person is different. Here are some of the ceremonies I can create as an independent celebrant:

  • leaves-bottom-left-white

    Traditional Funeral Services:

Respectful, formal, with classic readings and hymns. Perfect for families who want to honor their loved one in a time-tested way.

  • leaves-bottom-left-white

    Celebration of Life Ceremonies:

Joyful, uplifting, full of stories, anecdotes and laughter. A service that celebrates the life lived rather than focusing solely on the loss.

    Spiritual or Interfaith Services:

I am able to Incorporate rituals from multiple faith traditions. Honoring your loved one's beliefs while respecting the diversity of your family.

Services for Children and Young People:

I offer these ceremonies free of charge for anyone under 18. No family should face financial barriers when saying goodbye to a child.

What Makes My Approach Different

I've attended too many funerals where I didn't recognize the person being celebrated. Where the service was generic, impersonal, rushed. Where families left feeling like their loved one wasn't truly seen.

I'm determined that will never happen with the ceremonies I create.

  • LCS-Emblem-Full-Color

    I listen deeply.

I don't just collect facts, I gather the essence of who someone was. Their humor, their values, the small details that made them irreplaceable.

  • LCS-Emblem-Full-Color

    I'm comfortable with emotion.

Grief is messy. Families often feel all over the place, sad, angry, relieved, guilty. I can hold a safe space for whatever emotions arise.

  • LCS-Emblem-Full-Color

I'm an advocate for those who struggle to express themselves.

If you're finding it hard to put your feelings into words, I'll help. I'm skilled at gently drawing out what matters and making sure everyone's voice is heard.

  • LCS-Emblem-Full-Color

I create ceremonies that feel like the person.

If your loved one was cheeky and irreverent, the ceremony should reflect that. If they were quiet and thoughtful, we will honor that. If they loved football, we'll weave that in. The ceremony should sound like them, not like a template.
